The Pridnestrovian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev met with the Artsakh Republic Delegation headed by Artur Tovmasyan, Chairman of the National Assembly. The Artsakh Delegation was as well presented by Semyon Afiyan the State Secretary-Manager of the MFA Apparatus, the Chairman of the National Assembly Adviser Karen Vanyan and the Head of Trade Representative in Pridnestrovie Gegam Gevorkyan.

On the eve of the 30th Anniversary of the republic the Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko gave the start to the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Pridnestrovie within the modern geopolitical reality: 30 years of successful state building and responsible participation in international cooperation", arranged by the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry and PSU.

The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry informs that the VROs situated in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa suspend their activity and will temporary switch to a consultative working mode starting with September 1, 2020.

Such changing in the working mode caused the Republic of Moldova’s decision to recall its representatives that used to work within the VRO for getting through some technical training procedures; namely this fact led to their activity cessation and to a relevant VRO functionality shortage.

This year’s first expert (working groups) videoconference meeting on legal and documentation support for citizens of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova took place on August 24.

During the meeting, the sides continued reviewing issues on working out a data exchange comprehensive mechanism that contains citizen’s personal data and discussed as well the mutual data exchange in the line of civil registry office.

Today, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic received the first batch of targeted humanitarian aid through the World Health Organization; it consists of means aimed at combatting COVID-19: surgical masks (121,000 pcs.), respirators (35,000 pcs.), protective gowns (3,600 pcs.) and protective glasses (1600 pcs.).

The meeting of expert (working) groups on education took place on August 10,2020 as an outcome of the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan Political Representatives’ meeting. During the meeting, the attendants concentrated on aspects connected to the new studying year that begins September 1, current year in the context of conditioned security measures aimed at combatting the coronavirus infection spread.

Today, a meeting of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova, Vitaly Ignatiev and Cristina Lesnic, took place via video-link.

The participants in the meeting addressed a variety of pressing issues related to the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova, stressing the need to implement the previously reached agreements of the Berlin Plus package.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev held talks with the head of the Foreign Ministry of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Masis Mayilyan through videoconferencing.

During the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev noted that Pridnestrovie is watching with concern the growing tension on the border of Armenia with Azerbaijan, expressing the words of support and empathy for the Armenian people in this regard.

On July 21, 2020, a meeting of telecommunication experts from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova was held in a videoconference format.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the latest progress in fulfilling their obligations under the agreements on telecommunications signed in 2017-2018, and exchanged views on the prospects for further cooperation.

In connection with the ongoing attacks by certain high-ranking officials of the neighboring Moldova regarding the methods used by Pridnestrovie to contain the pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR underscores the following.

The controlled quarantine crossing points on the border of Pridnestrovie with the Republic of Moldova function primarily and explicitly to protect the health of the Pridnestrovian citizens by preventing a massive disease “importation” from abroad.

In recent months, the Republic of Moldova, disregarding its obligations within the negotiation process and abandoning the normal working dialogue, deliberately raises tensions and arranges provocative actions on the border with the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Pridnestrovie has information about provocative actions planned by the Moldovan side in the Security Zone, targeting inter alia the members of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, which can seriously destabilize the situation and lead to unpredictable consequences.

A telephone conversation was held between the PMR’s President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Head of the Moldovan State Igor Dodon. The interlocutors confirmed their readiness to meet at the end of this month to discuss current issues on the negotiation agenda.

On July 9, 2020, a meeting of expert (working) groups on environmental issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova was held in a videoconference format.

During the meeting, relevant peer experts discussed issues related to the conservation and rational use of the Dniester aquatic biological resources. In particular, the Pridnestrovian side provided information on 2019 efforts to stock the river with commercial species of fish and suggested a regular exchange of such data.

Welcoming the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova Dereck Hogan, Vadim Krasnoselsky said that there have been events that require joint discussion since the previous meeting. The problematic aspect is a serious slowdown in the dynamics of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. “The negotiation process is almost stagnating. The prospects for resuming a normal dialogue are not yet clear,” the PMR’s President noted. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that humanitarian and social issues are accumulating.
