The Tiraspol Picture Gallery hosted finalists’ awarding ceremony of the II International Drawing Competition "Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie: Heirs of the Great Victory"
The Tiraspol Picture Gallery hosted an award ceremony and opened works exhibition of the II International Drawing Competition Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie: Heirs of the Great Victory. The event attended the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, the heads of the official representations of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie Alexander Vataman and Vitaly Yankovsky, the chairman of the Union of Designers of Pridnestrovie Vladimir Galanin, the head of the creative association "KamArt" Yuri Salko and other guests.
The competition started on March 1, 2020. It is timed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War and the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of Pridnestrovie, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The project was organized by the Official Delegations of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR. The competition is aimed at fostering patriotism, respect for the history, traditions and culture of country, the heritage of other peoples. The works were selected in two nominations (according to the age of participants - "under 10 years old" and "over 10 years old").
Opening the event, Vitaly Ignatiev emphasized that holding an international drawing competition is becoming a good tradition. “Every year it grows, becomes more bright and active, and today we are summing up the results of this wonderful competition. I want to say that all the participants showed excellent painitngs, the presented works were executed with great love, feelings and dedication. I am very glad that the young generation of fraternal peoples remembers the Great Victory and the heroic act of our ancestors, which made it possible saving lives and all our future,” the PMR Foreign Minister said.
Addressing his welcoming speech, Vitaly Yankovsky, noted that “all the participants in the competition demonstrated an excellent understanding of life and the perception of good and pure”. In turn, Alexander Vataman said that 490 young artists from Pridnestrovie, Abkhazia and South Ossetia took part in the II International Drawing Competition, and the number of visitors to the competition website exceeded 45 thousand people. “Based on the results of online voting, 72 finalists were selected, 36 in each nomination, that form today's exhibition, and out of them the international jury determined the nominees and winners of the competition,” added the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia.
As part of the award ceremony, all nominees received diplomas while the winners also received cash prizes and certificates for stationery purchase. Exhibition’s guests, the head of the branch of the Institute of CIS Countries in Tiraspol, Vladimir Ladunkin, and the director of the Institute of Public Administration, Law and Social Sciences and Humanities Elena Bobkova, noted some works separately and presented gifts to young artists.
