In connection with the ongoing attacks by certain high-ranking officials of the neighboring Moldova regarding the methods used by Pridnestrovie to contain the pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR underscores the following.
The controlled quarantine crossing points on the border of Pridnestrovie with the Republic of Moldova function primarily and explicitly to protect the health of the Pridnestrovian citizens by preventing a massive disease “importation” from abroad.
In recent months, the Republic of Moldova, disregarding its obligations within the negotiation process and abandoning the normal working dialogue, deliberately raises tensions and arranges provocative actions on the border with the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
Pridnestrovie has information about provocative actions planned by the Moldovan side in the Security Zone, targeting inter alia the members of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, which can seriously destabilize the situation and lead to unpredictable consequences.
A telephone conversation was held between the PMR’s President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Head of the Moldovan State Igor Dodon. The interlocutors confirmed their readiness to meet at the end of this month to discuss current issues on the negotiation agenda.

On July 9, 2020, a meeting of expert (working) groups on environmental issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova was held in a videoconference format.
During the meeting, relevant peer experts discussed issues related to the conservation and rational use of the Dniester aquatic biological resources. In particular, the Pridnestrovian side provided information on 2019 efforts to stock the river with commercial species of fish and suggested a regular exchange of such data.
Today, the PMR’s Supreme Council plenary meeting adopted a statement in connection with the increasing tensions in the Security Zone fuelled by the Republic of Moldova.
Welcoming the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova Dereck Hogan, Vadim Krasnoselsky said that there have been events that require joint discussion since the previous meeting. The problematic aspect is a serious slowdown in the dynamics of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. “The negotiation process is almost stagnating. The prospects for resuming a normal dialogue are not yet clear,” the PMR’s President noted. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that humanitarian and social issues are accumulating.
We paid attention to further emotional rhetoric of the Moldovan representative in the international negotiation process.
While Moldovan healthcare system is balancing on the verge of collapse and medical institutions cannot cope with the flow of sick people, the Moldovan side has resorted to tactics of inventing an external enemy image in order to refocus the public attention on the allegedly existing problems in the Security Zone, aimed at discrediting the Dniester Peacekeeping Mission.
The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of the PMR's Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank Vladislav Tidva and acting Head of the PMR's State Telecommunications Service Vladimir Belyaev.
The President of Pridnestrovie and the Prime Minister of Moldova signed (without organizing personal meeting) an additional protocol extending for six months the Protocol Decision “On the principles of resuming full-fledged freight rail communication through the territory of Pridnestrovie” dated March 30, 2012. Parties mutually agreed that the document will be valid until December 31, current year.
