Due to the continuation of baseless publications on the social media of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this time about the allegedly provocative actions being prepared by the Russian side on the territory of Pridnestrovie, the PMR’s Foreign Ministry is authorized to state the following.
On April 7, a meeting of expert (working) groups of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova on customs cooperation was held upon the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side.
A meeting of Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross headed by Francois Muniz was held at the Foreign Ministry. The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor and the Ministry of Health.
The meeting took place within the working visit of the ICRC delegation to study the humanitarian needs of Ukrainian refugees and residents of Pridnestrovie in the current regional situation.
The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry reports that in the past month neighboring Moldova, using the fact that Ukraine closed its borders with Pridnestrovie in late February, has been actively resorting to administrative and bureaucratic barriers and restrictions deliberately creating tension and interruptions in the import of socially significant goods to Pridnestrovie.
Today, a meeting of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova was held at the office of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau specifically to address the problem of importing medications. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Pridnestrovian Pharmacists Association, the Health Ministry and a number of Pridnestrovian companies importing pharmaceutical products, as well as mediators and observers in the negotiation process.
Today, on March 31, 2022, in view of the decision taken by the Lithuanian government to include the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic as one of the “hostile states”, the PMR’s Foreign Ministry sent a protest note to the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Moldova.
A meeting of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian took place today at the office of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol.
On March 17, a meeting of expert (working) groups on education from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova was held via video link.
The parties reviewed certain aspects of the functioning of protocol decisions in the field of education signed in November 2017. A stable positive state of affairs in the work of Romanian-language schools located in Pridnestrovie was noted. At the same time, a number of remaining difficulties in the use of apostilled diplomas abroad was again brought to the attention of the Moldovan side.
The Foreign Ministry made notice of the conclusion adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on March 15 this year containing clearly biased politicized expressions in an effort to accuse the Russian Federation of the so-called “act of military aggression against the Republic of Moldova” and the so-called “occupation” of Pridnestrovie. No less interesting were the subsequent comments and statements of some Moldovan officials and politicians.
In this regard, we consider it appropriate to highlight several points.
Today, experts of Pridnestrovie and Moldova on regulatory and document support of citizens held a regular meeting via videoconference.
In the course of communication, the experts discussed previously submitted proposals on a mechanism for the bilateral exchange of information through civil registration authorities and archival services in order to resolve the numerous problems faced by citizens when processing documents.
The Pridnestrovian side proposed to record the specified mechanism of interdepartmental interaction as a Protocol decision.
Today, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev took part via video link in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Peacemaking as an Instrument of Reconciliation Policy: A Positive and Negative Experience” hosted by the Russian State University for the Humanities.
The event was organized by RSUH jointly with the Russkiy Mir Foundation. The conference brought together diplomats who used to be involved in peace operations, military personnel with peacekeeping experience, university professors and analysts who study peacemaking.
We regard the submission by the Republic of Moldova’s leadership of an application for membership in the European Union as a geopolitical decision leading to a change in international borders and spheres of influence in the regional space and radically altering the circumstances of the final settlement of Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations.
We understand the decision of our neighboring republic’s leadership.
Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian met in the OSCE Mission office in Chisinau in the presence of representatives of mediators and observers.
As part of the communication, the parties exchanged up-to-date information on the situation with refugees from Ukraine arriving in Pridnestrovie and Moldova, their accommodation and conditions of stay in the territories of the parties.
The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Artur Dmochowski. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Moldova Bartlomiej Zdaniuk, Head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova Claus Neukirch and Coordinator for the Pridnestrovian settlement of the OSCE DP Marek Calka.
Today, at the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, telephone talks were held between representatives on political issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian.
A meeting in the 1+1 format between Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian took place in the OSCE Mission office in Tiraspol, in the presence of representatives of mediators and observers.
During the meeting, political representatives discussed pressing matters of priority that form the current agenda of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian dialogue. In particular, the problems of unduly detained goods, including the Pridnestrovian-type car plate blanks and portable radios, as well as delivery to Pridnestrovie of specific drugs for people with cancer were addressed.
On February 18, the OSCE Mission office in Tiraspol will host a meeting of Political Representatives from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian.
During the upcoming exchange, the Pridnestrovian side intends to address in detail a wide range of pressing issues that have accumulated within the negotiation process.
Today, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev met with Charge d’Affaires of the United States in Moldova Laura Hruby via video link.
The diplomats discussed possible contacts at the level of the new U.S. Ambassador, as well as the results of the visit to Pridnestrovie by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Representative Thomas Mayr-Harting.
