Political Representatives Met in Tiraspol

02/19/22

A meeting in the 1+1 format between Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian took place in the OSCE Mission office in Tiraspol, in the presence of representatives of mediators and observers.

During the meeting, political representatives discussed pressing matters of priority that form the current agenda of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian dialogue. In particular, the problems of unduly detained goods, including the Pridnestrovian-type car plate blanks and portable radios, as well as delivery to Pridnestrovie of specific drugs for people with cancer were addressed.

The Pridnestrovian side underscored that the solution of these issues lies fully within the political representatives' mandate and the dimension regulated by mutual agreements of the sides. In this context, exact quotes from the existing agreements of the negotiation process that guarantee the use of Pridnestrovian license plates, and Pridnestrovian symbols in general, were provided to confirm the inadmissibility of current restrictive measures of the Republic of Moldova. Regarding the import of portable radio sets and drugs to the PMR, attention was drawn to the need for an early resolution of these problematic aspects in order to prevent additional humanitarian implications for the PMR residents.

Further discussion was focused on the functioning of the Vehicle Registration Offices, including the possibility for the Pridnestrovian reanimobiles to be reregistered in the VROs once their work is resumed. Meetings of several field expert (working) groups were scheduled, and another meeting in the 1+1 format at the end of next week in Chisinau was provisionally agreed. In addition, Vitaly Ignatiev reaffirmed the Pridnestrovian side's readiness for rhythmic work within the 5+2 format.
