On the Telephone Conversation with the Representative for Political Affairs from the Republic of Moldova

02/25/22

Today, at the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, telephone talks were held between representatives on political issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian.

The reason for the call was a letter from the Moldovan side with a proposal to postpone the meeting of representatives on political issues previously scheduled and agreed to be held on February 25 to a much later date. Vitaly Ignatiev drew the attention of his Moldovan colleague to the counterproductivity of avoiding a sustained dialogue under a significant range of problematic topics requiring early resolution, as well as a dynamically changing situation. The Minister insisted on the need for an early meeting, whereon the parties agreed to hold a meeting on Monday, February 28 this year.

Vitaly Ignatiev stressed the need for urgent resolution of issues in line with previously reached agreements at the negotiating table. He also drew special attention to the inadmissibility of the Pridnestrovian cargo detention, the continuation of the transport blockade or any restrictions on Pridnestrovie’s banking system and industrial enterprises.
