On the Meeting of Expert (Working) Groups on Customs Cooperation

04/12/22

On April 7, a meeting of expert (working) groups of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova on customs cooperation was held upon the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side.

Similar to earlier meetings, this discussion was mainly focused on the detention of several goods belonging to Pridnestrovian enterprises. Particular attention was given to shipments of medicines and plant protection products. Expert groups also discussed possible mechanisms for importing a wide range of vital goods to Pridnestrovie, as well as raw materials needed to enable an uninterrupted operation of key industrial enterprises. The Pridnestrovian side believes that the above problems can be resolved by negotiating a draft Protocol Decision on the Mutual Transit of Goods previously submitted to Moldova.

In addition, experts exchanged views on economic activities of the Pridnestrovian individual entrepreneurs who have actually lost their opportunity to carry out foreign economic activity following Ukraine's decision to close all checkpoints with Pridnestrovie.
The Pridnestrovian side called on Moldova not to create additional bureaucratic barriers and to put an end to the practice of unreasonably obstructing the importation of goods to Pridnestrovie for domestic consumption.
