The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Dunja Mijatović, arrived in Pridnestrovie with an introductory mission. The Bosnian human rights activist holds the post of Commissioner since the beginning of 2018. The Institution itself has existed since 1999. Expressing gratitude to the guests for the visit, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that Pridnestrovie appreciates cooperation with the Council of Europe, especially in such an important area as human rights protection.

As announced today beginning with March 10, current year the Republic of Moldova introduces the ban on entry for foreign citizens and stateless persons not having citizenship or a residence permit in the Republic of Moldova who arrive through the Kishinev airport from countries where cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded.

The Head of the Ukrainian Embassy Mark Shevchenko paid a visit to Tiraspol. He detains the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova since the end of the last year. On March 5, the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky received the diplomat while the latter was introduced by the Special Representative of Ukraine on Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement Viktor Kryzhanivsky.

The Expert (Working) Groups on Crime Combating from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova resumed their activity more than one year later at the OSCE Mission Office in Bendery on March 3, current year.

The meeting was devoted to relevant aspects of law enforcement cooperation and implementation of existing obligations in the framework of the negotiation process.

Particularly, the Pridnestrovian delegation addressed the problems of criminal cases, and specific cases of citizens of the PMR’s arbitrary detention by Moldovan law enforcement agencies.

On February 28, 2020 the OSCE Mission office in Tiraspol held the meeting of expert (working) groups on education from Pridnestorvie and the Republic of Moldova.

Experts discussed in detail certain problems faced by Pridnestorvian graduates traveling outside the country to continue their studies or employment.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed some aspects of schools teaching in Romanian and functioning in Pridnestorvie.

The II International Drawing Contest “Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie: the heirs of the Great Victory” starts on March 1, 2020.

The event is dedicated to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War and the 30th independence anniversary of Pridnestrovie, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The project is organized by the Official Representations of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The Pridnestrovian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev met with the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Head of Department for Russia, Belarus, the Republic of Moldova, the CIS, the countries of Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia, Central Asia, the Eastern Partnership and the Black Sea cooperation Tobias Tunkel. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the German Federal Republic to the Republic of Moldova Angela Ganninger.

The OSCE Mission office in Kishinev held the meeting of expert (working) groups on Economic Issues. During the meeting the parties discussed a wide range of issues in the field of mutual trade; Pridnestrovian enterprises engaged in foreign economic activity; existing contradictions on legal paperwork meant to accompany the export operations. The Pridnestrovian side urged the Moldovan representatives not to undertake any measures that could possibly lead to an aggravation of the Pridnestrovian agents’ situation.
