Alexandr Stetsiuk Attended the Memorial for the Victims of the War of 2008 in South Ossetia

Today at the Glory Memorial in Tiraspol the victims of the military aggression of Georgia against the Republic of South Ossetia of 2008 were remembered.

The representatives of the state authorities, public organizations and the residents of the republic attended the event. PMR Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandr Stetsiuk represented the Foreign Ministry.

Flower laying ceremony was held in memory of the victims.

Today the Foreign Ministry received notification from the Moldovan side of its refusal of a previously planned meeting of representatives on political issues during the period proposed by Chisinau itself and a request to postpone it indefinitely.

Such passivity of the authorized representatives of the Republic of Moldova does not help to normalize the stagnating negotiation process and impedes the rapid resolution of numerous problematic issues in the interests of the people.

On the eve of the 30th anniversary of peacekeeping forces’ entry into Pridnestrovie, a round table was held in the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Artem Turov, members of the Russian and PMR Civic Chambers, participants of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester, and Russian and Pridnestrovian experts attended it, including online.

First Pridnestrovian TV Channel, Alexander Lagutin: Moldovan authorities rejected the proposal of Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky to conclude an agreement with guarantees of peace and security for the region. Such a document was to be signed by all participants of the 5+2 negotiating format. How do you assess such a step of official Chisinau, and can we expect new provocations in Pridnestrovie as a result?

A press conference was held in the international multimedia press center of the Russia Today news agency with Vitaly Ignatiev, Pridnestrovian Foreign Minister, and Alexei Pushkov, Chairman of the Provisional Commission of the Federation Council on Information Policy and Media Relations. The event was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.

PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev is on a working visit to Moscow. As part of the visit, the Foreign Minister attended a round table on Russia’s Participation in the Peacekeeping Operation in Pridnestrovie: 30 Years of Peace and Stability in the Region, organized on the platform of the Federation Council. Representatives of the Federation Council Committees on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, the State Duma, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Russian Defense and Foreign Affairs Ministries, and the expert community were among those invited.
