Today, the OSCE Mission office in Kishinev held the meeting of expert (working) groups on transport development and road facilities. The sides carefully analyzed the current problems within joint vehicle registration points activities that impede to fully use this mechanism as foreseen in the Protocol decision of April 24, 2018. Special attention was paid to the driver's licenses issue. The Pridnestrovian side presented specific feasible considerations on modalities able to resolve this problematic aspect.

The Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky held a three-hours meeting in Bendery with the OSCE European delegation headed by Thomas Mayr-Harting the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.   

This meeting was necessary. We stated our position, proves and arguments, but also heard the OSCE representative’s opinion about the settlement issues agenda.

This year, the OSCE is chaired by Albania, led by its Prime Minister Edi Rama. The Austrian diplomat Thomas Mayr-Harting has been appointed Special Representative for the Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement. Today he is visiting Pridnestrovie for the first time, in his current position. The foreign diplomat visited the republic: in 2017, as a representative of the European Union in the “5 + 2” format, he met with the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR.

An official addressing was forwarded today to the Republic of Moldova’s political issues representative and to international participants of the 5+2 format. According to the statement the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic State Security Council decided to take response measures for Moldovan vehicles. Thus, from January 24, 2020 begin acting restrictions on the Pridnestrovian and Ukrainian state border crossing for all types of vehicles registered in the republic of Moldova, driven by permanent Moldovan residents possessing Moldovan driver’s licenses.

The OSCE Mission office in Tiraspol hosted a meeting of expert (working) groups on rail transport and communications initiated by the Pridnestrovian side to discuss certain issues on raw materials delivery to Pridnestrovie and the export of finished products. Within the framework of the working dialogue was asserted as the emergence inadmissibility of problematic situations of this kind as the interest to provide proper transport services to the enterprises of Pridnestrovie by the State Enterprise “Railway Moldova”.

The OSCE Mission office in Tiraspol hosted the meeting of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova, Vitaly Ignatiev and Alexander Flenchea.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a wide range of relevant aspects of the negotiation process agenda between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova emphasizing transport and import of goods in Pridnestrovie issues from February 1, 2020.

The Office of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol will host the meeting of representatives on political issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Vitaly Ignatiev and Alexandr Flenchea on January 14, 2020 at 12:00 PM.

During the planned meeting the Pridnestrovian side intends to continue discussions on a wide range of current issues within the dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

The Prednistrovian President and the Prime Minister of Moldova have signed an additional Protocol giving a half year extension to the Protocol Decision “On principles of a full-fledged freight railway communication renewal through the territory of Pridnestrovie”. The document will be valid until June 30, 2020 with the mutual consent of the parties.

Today, at the Contact Center of T.G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University (PSU) for Cooperation with the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation an activity plan for 2020-2021 was signed. The event was attended by Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Moldova Mikhail Davydov, Rector of the University Stepan Beril, as well as representatives of the Presidential Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR and Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie.

Today, Tiraspol hosted the meeting with expert Mario Viola invited by the OSCE Mission to Moldova to assist in resolving personal data protection issues that impede the interaction between Pridnestrovie and Moldova in relevant field areas. The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Stetsyuk and representatives of republic’s state authorities.

During the meeting, the OSCE expert was informed about the difficulties in the exchange of requests with the Moldovan side involving the processing of citizens’ personal data.

The OSCE Office in Kishinev hosted a meeting of the political representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

During the meeting, the Pridnestrovian side initiated a wide range of current issues on Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiation process agenda including the Pridnestrovian vehicles participation in the international traffic, telecommunication, politically motivated criminal cases, banking issues, etc.

Today, with the assistance of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, about four tons of used-up batteries were withdrawn from the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Prior to that, they had been centrally stored at the Moldovan GRES (State District Power Plant), and at the EcoPMR volunteer environmental organization.

The withdrawal procedure took place with the Moldrec participation, Moldova’s specialized organization to deal with subsequent battery sorting and transportation outside the Republic of Moldova for further recycling.

The Foreign Ministry of the PMR read the statement of the OSCE Ministerial Summit in Bratislava on the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement process in the 5+2 format.

The range of trite formulations repetition in the declaration demonstrates a certain inertia of the approach and does not reflect the real reasons for the negotiation process stagnation in 2019, due to Moldova’s refusal to implement the set of commitments and the failure to sign the Bratislava Protocol to discredit the 5+2 international format.

The PMR’s Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev gave an interview to Mr. Eiki Berg, Tartu University Professor (Estonia), and his colleague Kristel Vits. The scientists showed interest in a wide range of topics, including the Pridnestrovian trade with the EU, certain aspects of relations with the Republic of Moldova and geopolitical context of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement process. Political and legal prerequisites for the Pridnestrovian state formation were also part of discussion.
