The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic wholeheartedly welcomes the signing by the President of the Russian Federation of a Decree establishing special rules for granting Russian citizenship to all residents of Pridnestrovie.

On May 14 of this year, following a two-year pause, a meeting of the expert (working) groups of Pridnestrovie and Moldova on regulatory, legal, and document support for citizens was held via videoconference.

During the discussion, the Pridnestrovian side noted the emergence of new issues regarding the documentation of citizens, caused by unilateral and uncoordinated decisions by Moldovan authorities. Specifically, it relates to the refusal to issue citizens with original paper documents. An increasing number of Pridnestrovians are facing such problems.

In light of yet another arrogant attack by a Moldovan political representative, who attempted to distort the rationale for the creation of the Together Social Support Fund by the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, we would like to draw attention to the following.

It is Moldova’s blockade measures – including the imposition of pseudo-fiscal obligations and the de facto withdrawal of resources from the Pridnestrovian economy – that pose direct risks to social stability and to the payment of wages, pensions, and benefits to the residents of Pridnestrovie.

A meeting of the Expert (Working) Groups on Economic Issues was held at the OSCE Mission office in Chisinau, attended by representatives of the mediators and observers.

The main topic of the meeting was Moldova’s planned measures to impose additional fiscal burdens on economic entities in Pridnestrovie.

The Pridnestrovian side expressed dissatisfaction that, contrary to the invitations sent earlier, the meeting took place after the Moldovan Parliament had already adopted the relevant bill and was largely focused on crisis response.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic strongly condemns the bill adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to impose new levies on Pridnestrovian economic agents under the guise of VAT and excise taxes.

By rejecting a civilized and constructive approach to conflict resolution, blocking a full-fledged negotiation process, and feigning participation in dialogue, Chisinau is using unacceptable forms of pressure in an attempt to provoke a socio-economic crisis in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

04/24/26

Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev took part in a meeting of the Supreme Council’s Commission on Foreign Policy and International Relations, which was held online today.

The major topic of the event was the Moldovan authorities’ plans to sharply increase the levies imposed on Pridnestrovie, which the Minister called “the final stage of Moldova’s suffocating blockade”, aimed at destroying the economic foundation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
