Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR informs that the meeting of political representatives of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova, previously planned and announced on the official website of the PMR’s MFA, will not take place due to the refusal of the Moldovan side.
Let us recall that during the Kishinev meeting on March 3, 2016 political representatives arranged to hold the next “1+1” meeting in Tiraspol, therefore following established practice the Pridnestrovian side on March 4 sent to the Moldovan counterparts an official invitation to the meeting. Today on March 10 political representative of the Republic of Moldova Gheorghe Balan notified the Foreign Ministry of Pridnestrovie about a refusal of the meeting as “its date is not acceptable for the Moldovan side”. At the same time Moldova continues to ignore initiatives of Pridnestrovie to hold meetings of field expert (working) groups.
Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR is concerned about the approach of the Republic of Moldova, which does not correspond to the goals and tasks set before the parties in the negotiation process, does not correlate with the need to ensure the interests of the citizens of both states, and contradicts the RM’s aspiration to intensify the dialogue with Pridnestrovie that was declared in the media, including at the highest level.
We have to state that such RM’s position prevents the coordination of practical solutions to acute issues of concern and indicates the tactics of unilateral actions chosen by Moldova against Pridnestrovie.
We believe that such an inconsistent approach of the Moldovan side will not remain without attention of mediators and observers in the negotiation process, a joint visit of them to Moldova and Pridnestrovie is planned for early April this year.
