President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk received a delegation of the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany. During the meeting Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the Federal Foreign Office Andreas Peschke, appointed in July this year, was introduced to the Head of State. The delegation also included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic of Moldova Ulrike Maria Knotz. Taking part in the meeting from the Pridnestrovian side was Acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.
Welcoming the representatives of the German delegation, the President noted that constructive cooperation on a number of areas was established between Pridnestrovie and the German Embassy. The Head of State pointed out that the possibility of a direct exchange of views on issues of interest allows to form an objective view of the sides on topical issues.
Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the Federal Foreign Office Andreas Peschke, in his turn, expressed hope that the cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Germany would develop fruitfully in the future.
During the meeting they discussed issues related to the current situation in the settlement of Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations. The President drew attention to a number of unilateral restrictive actions taken by the Republic of Moldova. In particular, they talked about blocking transport logistics of the PMR, initiating politically motivated cases by Moldova against Pridnestrovian officials and businessmen. Attention was paid to the problems of economic pressure on Pridnestrovie.
