In accordance with the agreements reached during the meeting of representatives on political issues on August 13, 2015 a meeting of the expert (working) groups on railway communication from Pridnestrovie and Moldova was held on August 20, 2015 in the office of the OSCE Mission in Kishinev.
The sides focused on the discussion of a problem related to the unilateral change made by the Republic of Moldova to the technological scheme of movement of goods on the railway section “Slobodka-Rybnitsa” which entails significant financial costs of enterprises located in the north of Pridnestrovie. Representatives of the Moldovan working group acknowledged the changes in the method of delivery of goods to a number of economic entities of Pridnestrovie, jointly initiated by the Railways of Moldova and Ukraine. However, the Moldovan experts told about (without confirming economic calculations) the economic feasibility of the scheme of movement of goods unilaterally established. Representatives of Pridnestrovian enterprises, in their turn, showed a significant increase in rail tariffs through specific examples and specific numbers due to changes in the technological scheme.
The Pridnestrovian side put forward a proposal to return the situation to the original state consistent with the provisions of the Protocol Decision “On the principles of resumption of a full-scale freight railway communication through the territory of Pridnestrovie” dated 30 March 2012. In particular, Pridnestrovian experts consider it necessary to make possible the import of goods with an indication of the Slobodka-export station.
Consultations on this issue will continue during tomorrow's meeting of the representatives on political issues with the assistance of experts on rail transportation and customs issues.
