Today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR head of the Foreign Ministry Vitaly Ignatiev received a delegation of the British Embassy in the Republic of Moldova headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Her Majesty of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Philip David Batson.
The meeting discussed the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, characterized by intensification of blockade measures applied against Pridnestrovie by the Moldovan side. In particular, Vitaly Ignatiev informed in detail the British representative on the existing problems related to the unilateral steps of Moldova and Ukraine to change the optimum scheme of delivery of import cargo in Pridnestrovie by railway.
The PMR’s MFA once again emphasized the inadmissibility of implementation of the plans to establish the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian customs and border control at the checkpoint “Kuchurgan”. Also the meeting raised the issue of unilateral restrictive measures of the Republic of Moldova in the economic sphere, including those relating to export of Pridnestrovian goods to the European Union countries.
“Unfortunately, despite the fact that the negotiation process is in a state of stagnation, measures of pressure on Pridnestrovie have not ceased, moreover, they are strengthening and taking new forms,” – said the diplomat.
Vitaly Ignatiev stressed the importance of international assistance to enhance the dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
“We are traditionally committed to attracting wide international attention to the situation in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement. The problems existing in the relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova require focused attention, substantive and constructive dialogue at the negotiating table, because behind each of them there are destinies of people, their well-being,” - said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
The sides also discussed issues of mutual interest of bilateral cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Great Britain and a number of projects implemented by the British Embassy in Pridnestrovie. The sides agreed on the need to maintain direct contacts and to maintain the systematic dialogue on the various issues.
