President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk received Head of the EU Delegation in Moldova Pirkka Tapiola. The meeting was also attended by Acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev. The meeting exchanged views on a number of topical issues of bilateral cooperation. The sides expanded on matters related to the negotiation process.
The PMR President drew attention to the fact that today there is a period of stagnation in the negotiations between Tiraspol and Kishinev. “Unfortunately, virtually no negotiations are conducted, and a whole set of issues on the agenda is not solved because of it too. The delay in solving some problems exacerbates the issues of economic cooperation,” said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
The meeting talked about issues related to the politically motivated criminal cases opened by Moldova against Pridnestrovian citizens, as well as the unilateral agreement between Moldova and Ukraine on establishing joint customs and border control on the Pridnestrovian border.
The PMR President assured that Pridnestrovie look forward to the constructive cooperation with all participants in the negotiation format aimed at finding mutually beneficial solutions to the existing problems between Tiraspol and Kishinev.
Head of the EU Delegation in Moldova Pirkka Tapiola noted in his turn that a constructive approach to solve the problems existing in the dialogue of Pridnestrovie and Moldova is a priority for the European Union.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of the agreement on maintaining the optimum regime for Pridnestrovie to export goods to the European Union.
