On February 17, 2012, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski held the meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Belarus and State Administration of Tiraspol. The delegation was composed of Belarus honoured rowing couch, senior coach of kayak rowing Belarus national team Vladimir Shantorovich, Head of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk State Administration Andrey Bezbabchenko, Chief of Trade, Transport and Communication Department of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk State Administration Eduard Gutsul, and Director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Tirproject” Design Institute Alexander Pyrukhin. The meeting also saw the participation of the counselor of the CIS-Countries Department of the PMR's MFA Aleksander Stetsiuk.
The interlocutors discussed the possibility to organize in Pridnestrovie a selection center for the preparation of sportsmen from the Republic of Belarus in some kinds of sport.
In particular, Vladimir Shantorovich told that Pridnestrovie has optimal conditions for training of the national teams' reserve of the Republic of Belarus in such kinds of sport as academic rowing, rowing and canoeing. In his words, the Republic of Belarus is interested in the creation of its branch of the Sportsmen Training Center on the Dniester and hopes to consider economic and technical aspects in more detail in the nearest time.
Vladimir Shantorovich also noted that stable relations between Pridnestrovie and Belarus in the field of sport have existed since the soviet times. Apart from that, Belarus rowers have been carrying out basic training in Tiraspol during 10 years already. In his words, today this experience of a long-term interaction can get next step forward.
On its behalf, leadership of the PMR's MFA marked importance of the Pridnestrovien-Belarusian relations both in the field of sport and in other spheres. As it was marked, presence of stable positive contacts at the level of professional collectives and public organizations creates good basis for enhancement of interstate cooperation.
