Today, Tskhinval hosted a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Murat Dzhioev, where the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation.
The diplomats congratulated each other on the signing of the updated Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs expressed a common summing-up that the agreement will allow to bring the relationship between the republics to a qualitatively new level and to study new trends and areas of cooperation with a view to concluding additional bilateral agreements.
Particular emphasis was placed on the development of socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation, including the issue of summer holidays in South Ossetia for children from Pridnestrovie and vice versa.
The parties also drew attention to the fact that the 10th anniversary of the Community for Democracy and Rights of Nations will be marked in the near future. In this regard, the sides stressed the need to intensify cooperation in this unique multilateral format.
Let us recall, the Presidents of the PMR, the Republic of South Ossetia and the RA proclaimed the establishment of the Community for Democracy and Rights of Nations by developing a joint declaration of 14 June 2006. Basic foundation documents of the Community were signed on November 4, 2007; they created the legal framework of the organization, whose objectives are to ensure international peace and security, human rights and fundamental freedoms, political, information, economic and other cooperation with third countries, Russia first of all.
Along with this they touched upon the issue of premises for the Official Mission of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Republic of South Ossetia. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Murat Dzhioev, substantive work in this area within the Republic of South Ossetia President’s instructions will be initiated in the near future.
