A meeting of Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Great Britain to the Republic of Moldova Philip David Batson took place today at the Foreign Ministry of the PMR.
In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in humanitarian and social spheres. In particular, interlocutors raised issue about the fourth youth football festival titled “Football is Ambassador of Peace” participating in which are children from Pridnestrovie and Moldova, and also discussed prospects for cooperation to assist Pridnestrovian health facilities to take measures in the field of TB control.
According to Nina Shtanski, Pridnestrovie welcomes international expertise in the field of TB control and “looks forward to international help in addressing this complex issue”.
In his turn, British Ambassador told that “the report on TB is actually prepared.” “We would like to continue working in this direction based on the results that will be presented in the report. This is a disease which knows no borders,” he told.
The Minister expressed appreciation for the work done by the Embassy. “We hope such a close cooperation and positive dynamics in our relations will remain in future as well,” she marked.
Realization of recommendations of UN Senior Expert on Human Rights in Pridnestrovie Thomas Hammarberg was also raised in the course of the conversation. It is to be recalled that in February 2013 the human rights defender published Report on Human rights in Pridnestrovie in which he gave evaluation of human rights situation in Pridnestrovie and formulated his recommendations. Presently, interdepartmental group established upon decision of the PMR's President is developing plan on realization of recommendations of UN Senior Expert on Human Rights in Pridnestrovie.
