Activity in the Russian sector is a strategic goal of the PMR's MFA, therefore diplomatic office of the Republic is intended to actively develop contacts with the Russian side in all spheres, with structures of the civil society and mass media including. This was today stated at the briefing by deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and deputy Chief of Information Support Department of the Foreign Policy Activity of the MFA Igor Shornikov. At the meeting with journalists they told about the results of their last week working trip to Moscow.

As Vitaly Ignatiev told, during the week in the Russian capital the Pridnestrovien diplomats held meetings with representatives of scientific-research and expert community of Russia, leaders of public organizations and mass media chiefs. PMR's MFA appeared also as a co-organizer of a number of activities held in Moscow with participation of the prominent scientists and public figures of Russia. Among these activities were a round table “Russia's Glorious Sons: Distinguished Russians in the History of Pridnestrovie” which took place in PMR's Official Representation Office in the Russian Federation; press-club in Experimental Creative Center (Kurginyan Centre), as well as a round table “Russian-Pridnestrovien Cooperation as a Factor of Strengthening Regional Stability and Security” held in the Institute of CIS Countries. Apart from that, Pridnestrovien delegation visited editorial office of the famous all-Russian newspaper “Zavtra”, held the meeting with leaders of Interregional Public Movement “Narodny Sobor”, and met with leadership of Official Representation Office of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in Russia.

“Following the results of these activities, one can draw a unanimous conclusion that the Pridnestrovien topic is very in demand in Russia, moreover, not only in Moscow but in Russian regions as well,” Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR told. He noted that events in such authoritative structures as Kurginyan Centre and Institute of CIS Countries had aroused great interest in expert community of Russia and allowed the Pridnestrovien delegation to establish contacts with a wide range of prominent representatives of intellectual Russian elite. In Moscow the diplomats held presentation of print media of PMR's MFA, and also arranged screening of documentary films about Pridnestrovie prepared by First Republican Channel. According to Vitaly Ignatiev, all these meetings and activities showed that Tiraspol needs to work more actively in Russian media-space. “As we have seen, Russia's information field is fairly loaded with materials about political settlement process on the Dniester. However, questions about how and what Pridnestroviens are living, what processes are taking place within the Pridnestrovien society remain somewhat in the shadow,” Vitaly Ignatiev told.   In the words of deputy Chief of Information Support Department of the Foreign Policy Activity of the MFA Igor Shornikov, in recent years Russia's interest towards Pridnestrovie can be defined as episodic. It arouses only in the period of some crisis situations on the Dniester. “Today our goal is to excite constant interest towards Pridnestrovie in Russian society. In Moscow we could see that there are prerequisites for this. Everywhere we met very lively response and I think we managed to pick interest of expert community of Russia in getting to know our problem more deeply,” Igor Shornikov told.  According to Vitaly Ignatiev, in the course of these activities the Pridnestrovien representatives managed to convey the main idea over to the Russian experts. “It lies in the fact that there are Pridnestrovien people who have clearly determined with their choice. We are supporters of integration into Russian space, supporters of dynamic development towards eastern vector,” Deputy Foreign Minister told. He marked that in Russia there had already been formed a circle of Pridnestrovie's friends who with compassion and interest regard the struggle of free Republic on the Dniester. “This circle exists many years and is broad enough.  But these people and organizations are isolated and work not systematically. Our goal is to consolidate their efforts, bring them to a new higher organizational level, and implementation of this goal is what we are currently working on,” told Vitaly Ignatiev. “In this sense, a ball is now on the Pridnestrovien side, while it is our initiatives and concrete proposals that the perspectives of further cooperation will depend on.”  Speaking about the results reached in Moscow, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that agreement on spreading of Pridnestrovien print production was reached with a number of Russian structures; prospects for information cooperation with newspaper “Zavtra” and Institute of CIS countries were outlined. Apart from that, involvement of the Pridnestrovien side in TV programs, organization of TV-bridges and video conferences together with Kurginyan Centre is also expected. Vitaly Ignatiev suggested that representatives of the Pridnestrovien mass media be actively engaged in this work.
