On May 24, PMR’s Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev received the EUBAM delegation headed by Andrew Tesoriere, the Head of the Mission. The talks were also attended by PMR’s Minister of Economic Development Sergey Obolonik and Chairman of the PMR’s State Customs Committee Vitaly Niagu.
During the meeting several pressing problematic issues related to the ongoing application of restrictive measures against Pridnestrovie were discussed. In particular, the Pridnestrovian side outlined in details the negative implications of the joint Moldova-Ukraine customs-border control at Kuchurgan checkpoint, stressing inadmissibility of implementation of the given destructive project.
During the talks, special priority was given to the ban on the transit of goods subject to veterinary control to Pridnestrovie without consent of the Republic of Moldova.
“In fact, today, when the joint control is not yet implemented, restrictive measures have already been taken against Pridnestrovie. Such actions are a litmus paper showing the dead-end nature of the steps made within the project of the joint control at the border with Pridnestrovie,” Vitaly Ignatiev stressed. In this context, the Pridnesrovian side appealed the EUBAM representatives to submit their proposals on the settlement of the current situation.
