Nina Shtanski and Russian Colleagues Discussed Preparations for the 5+2 Meeting
On May 23 a.c. during the working visit Deputy Chairperson of the Government, Foreign Minister of the PMR Nina Shtanski met with State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin and Ambassador-at-large of Russian Ministry Sergey Gubarev.

In the course of the dialogue the participants discussed the current social and economic situation in Pridnestrovie, Russian and Pridnestrovian intergovernmental cooperation and issues relating to the settlement in the light of preparations for the following 5+2 meeting.


In the context of the consultations regarding the agenda of the upcoming meeting in the framework of the negotiation process in Vienna Nina Shtanski expressed serious concern over the actions by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova undertaken in relation to prosecution of Pridnestrovie's officials for political reasons in connection with the performance of their official powers. She informed the Russian side that eight criminal cases were initiated only in the current year, including the criminal cases against the Head of the State Administration of Dubossary and the Minister of the Interior who is also the co-chairperson of the joint Moldo-Pridnestrovian expert (working) group on confidence building measures. During the meeting the Pridnestrovian diplomat also informed the Russian colleagues about the efforts undertaken within the framework of bilateral Moldo-Pridnestrovian contacts to find solution to the problem on the forced documentation of the Pridnestrovian people by the relevant bodies of Moldova and restrictions on Pridnestrovian people's right to free choice of citizenship. The Pridnestroivan side intends to discuss this problem and other important issues during the 5+2 meeting scheduled to be held on June 5 - 6.
