Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Stetsiuk and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie Alexander Vataman.
As a part of dialog, Alexander Stetsiuk noted that the communication with the Republic of Abkhazia is traditionally among the top priorities of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Policy. “A new Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation Between our countries was signed two years ago. Since then, it’s implementing. We’ve done a lot, but we still have to do more,” the diplomat said.
During the discussion, Alexander Stetsiuk highly appreciated the level of the Presidential election, held in September 2019. “The Pridnestrovian side had no comments to the voting process. The election has been held in the in a competitive environment as it is in any other democratic state. We know that inauguration of the elected President Raul Khadzhimba is scheduled on October 9. We wish him further success and new achievements for the new term of office,” Deputy Minister noted. On the behalf of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry he congratulated Alexander Vataman on the 26th anniversary of liberating Abkhazian capital Sukhum from Georgian troops.
As part of the dialogue, the diplomats discussed several topical issues in the context of relations between Pridnestrovie and Apsny, as well as promising areas of bilateral cooperation for the immediate future. Special attention was also paid to the participation of the Abkhazian delegation in VII Pridnestrovian International Economic Investment Forum scheduled for the middle of October.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to maintain regular consultation in order to discuss all the issues of mutual interest.
