Today the Head of the State Yevgeny Shevchuk hosted Sergey Gubarev, the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Vitaly Tryapitsyn, Deputy Director of the Second Department of CIS-countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RF at the Administration of the President. Deputy Chairperson of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie Nina Shtanski also participated at the meeting. The President Yevgeny Shevchuk thanked the diplomats for their efforts while improving operation of the Russian consular service in Pridnestrovie. As reported, additional building of the field consular office of the Russian Embassy was opened in Tiraspol the day before. Sergey Gubarev and Vitaly Tryapitsyn informed the President of the PMR of their visit to the new consular building today. “We can not remain indifferent to the needs of the 180,000 Russian citizens living in Pridnestrovie,” Sergey Gubarev said in an interview. “I am very pleased that there is some progress concerning wrong situation that has developed around operation of this consular office.” He also added that they have outlined further improvement of the operation of the field consular office of the Russian Embassy in Tiraspol. Yevgeny Shevchuk and Sergey Gubarev discussed also arrangements to the regular negotiation round within the “5+2” format to be held in Odessa in the second half of May. The President of the PMR stressed that socio-economic issues remain a priority for Pridnestrovie. “Welfare of people depends on the socio-economic status of Pridnestrovie. Within the negotiation format we expect to find a mutually acceptable mechanism that will facilitate the development of the economy,” the Head of the State said. “Pridnestrovie has always been committed to the discussion of issues concerning relations with Moldova at the negotiating table,” emphasized Yevgeny Shevchuk.
