The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and Anna Capello-Brillat, Head of Department, Directorate of Democratic Governance, Culture and Diversity, Council of Europe.

As Vitaly Ignatiev noted at the meeting, the Council of Europe and Pridnestrovie have developed constructive partnership for several years. In this context, the Foreign Minister stressed that the Pridnestrovian side appreciates the achieved level of mutual understanding in the parameters, which have already regulated previous work, and expressed willingness to continue cooperation in a positive way.

During the conversation the sides discussed a number of issues related to the prospects, as well as parameters of possible implementation of joint projects in the social and humanitarian sphere. It was also noted that any joint initiatives must meet the real needs of people living in Pridnestrovie. In this context, Vitaly Ignatiev highlighted that the rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovians are repeatedly violated as a result of restrictive unilateral actions by the Republic of Moldova in various fields, including education, freedom of movement, personal security. The sides agreed that people should not be held hostage to the circumstances of a long and complicated process of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict settlement. According to the Foreign Minister of the PMR, European experience in a variety of topical areas is useful to develop specific solutions to many issues that exist in relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
