The Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Franco Frattini had a telephone conversation today.
During the conversation, the interlocutors exchanged views on topical aspects of the negotiation agenda between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova with an emphasis on implementation of the agreements reached during the last year. The interlocutors paid particular attention to existing problems that impede full implementation of previously signed agreements, in particular in the field of telecommunications and politically motivated criminal cases.
The diplomats discussed separately the prospects for holding the next meeting of the “Permanent Conference...” in the 5+2 format by the end of this year.
In the course of the telephone conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev thanked Franco Frattini for the efforts of the Italian OSCE Chairmanship in promoting the dialogue of the parties in 2018. The Head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry also expressed hope that in the coming months, the Chairmanship of the OSCE will be in close contact with colleagues from the Slovak Republic in order to ensure continuity and consistency in the negotiation process, as well as to create conditions for an active start of work at all its levels in early 2019.
