Today, the PMR MFA held a meeting of Acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the UN delegation consisting of member of the UN Department of Political Affairs Kristin Jenssen, Advisor to the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus Victor Munteanu.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation of Pridnestrovie with UN agencies at the current stage, including in the framework of the implementation of joint social and humanitarian projects.
Vitaly Ignatiev focused on the important aspects of the socio-economic situation in the country, noting that, in spite of the continuing regional economic instability, the level of social support of the population in Pridnestrovie is much higher than in neighbouring states. At the same time, the diplomat noted with regret that today the Pridnestrovian economy is experiencing serious difficulties owing to unilateral restrictive measures taken by Moldova and Ukraine. According to him, in the current environment of complex external pressure on Pridnestrovie the potential of efforts of the organizations of the UN system, aimed at improving the quality of life of Pridnestrovian citizens, cannot be fully realized.
During the dialogue, the head of the Foreign Ministry stressed the openness of Pridnestrovie to cooperation with organizations of the UN system, which has been constructive for many years.
At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to continue direct contacts on matters of mutual interest.
