Today, the OSCE Office in Tiraspol hosted a meeting of the expert (working) groups on ecology and agriculture.
During the meeting the sides "compared notes" on a number of topical issues in the field of environmental protection. Pridnestrovian and Moldovan experts shared their vision of the organization of activities in the field of protection of the ecosystem of the Dniester River.
The discussion touched on current issues on conservation of aquatic biological resources of the Dniester River, in particular, on measures aimed at stocking the river of fish and maintaining its biodiversity.
The Pridnestrovian side proposed to return to the discussion of the need for a comprehensive study aimed at developing coordinated actions of purifying the bed of the Dniester River, as well as informed about the planned work conducted by specialized agencies of the republic on the extraction of sunken trees.
In addition, the sides continued to work on defining the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation further to the expired "Joint Action Plan of the authorized structures of the parties in the field of environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources for 2013-2014."
The Pridnestrovian side in advance provided to the Moldovan working group its draft version of document regulating the further joint activities in the environmental field. On the eve of the meeting the sides exchanged proposals for the contents of the draft, as a result of which they managed to come maximally close to the final version of the document.
However, despite the prior consultations and consensus building, the Moldovan side refrained from initialling of the text of the interaction mechanism actually agreed by the parties.
The sides agreed to continue the substantive work of the expert (working) groups on topical issues in the field of ecology.
