According to the Russian MFA Information and Press Department, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin received on January 12 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Transdniestria, Vladimir Yastrebchak.
During the conversation, issues regarding current situation in the region were examined, as well as near-term prospects for resuming the negotiation process for Transdniestrian settlement.
With due account for a continued formation of new power structures in Chisinau, the Transdniestrian side reaffirmed its interest in maintaining the principle of equality in the dialogue on settlement problems and in confirmation of earlier agreements, including those fixed in Moscow Joint Statement from March 18, 2009. A responsible approach towards these issues will largely indicate the interest of the Moldovan authority in pursuing constructive searches for a sustainable and viable variant of the political settlement on the Dniester.
