The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Dmitry Palamarchuk and Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova Florian Seitz.
During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of topical issues of mutual interest. The discussion focused on some results of the German OSCE Chairmanship in 2016 in the context of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. Dmitry Palamarchuk expressed gratitude to the German side for its active work on the track of Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement, which made it possible to organize the first meeting of the “Permanent Conference...” over the past two years in the 5+2 format. The diplomat also noted the Bavarian Conference on Confidence-Building Measures, held this summer, and organization of the visit of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Federal Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Pridnestrovie. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR expressed hope that the positive potential, unlocked in 2016 with the direct participation of Germany, will form the basis for continuation of substantive and productive work at various levels of the negotiation process, including during the upcoming Austria’s Chairmanship in the OSCE. According to Dmitry Palamarchuk, the Pridnestrovian side is still committed to the need for priority resolution of issues, which directly affect the level of welfare of citizens, within the small steps tactics.
As part of the exchange of views on the current state of the negotiation process, Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR focused on the priority to revitalize implementation of the Berlin Protocol provisions and to overcome negative effects of unilateral steps by the Moldovan side in the area of rail freight traffic through the territory of Pridnestrovie.
During the meeting the interlocutors also discussed some aspects of bilateral cooperation of Pridnestrovie and Germany in the socio-economic and humanitarian dimensions.
