On the Meeting of Expert (Working) Groups on Issues of Transport and Road Facilities Development

Today the meeting of the Expert (Working) Groups on Issues of Transport and Road Facilities Development from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova was held at the OSCE Office in Bendery city.

The meeting was attended by representatives of participants from the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the OSCE and the European Union under the “Permanent Conference on Political Issues in the Framework of the Negotiating Process for Pridnestrovian Settlement”.

The meeting was focused on discussion of several draft provisions of the Protocol Decision “On Some Primary Measures to Provide Freedom of Movement for Population of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova”.

It will be recalled that this document is discussed by experts and by political representatives for a long period of time. The Protocol Decision was intensively negotiated on the margins of the “Permanent Conference” meeting in Dublin on November 28-30, 2012.

At the end of the meeting the parties managed to get significant traction on adjustment of a neutral plate design for Pridnestrovian vehicles to handle international cargo-and-passenger transportation as well as to advance adjustment of the mechanism for the creation of a joint vehicle database. Decisions reached were recorded in the minutes of the meeting signed by heads of the expert (working) groups A. Khokhlov and V. Chubuk.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic believes that the expert meeting was useful in the context of agreeing on a final text of the Protocol Decision draft.
