On June 2, Deputy Head of the British Embassy in Moldova John Mitchell visited Tiraspol. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR a meeting took place between the British diplomat and Minister Vladimir Yastrebchak and his Deputy Sergey Simonenko.
The sides reviewed the 24 May 2010 Astana informal political consultations in the &ld
quo;5+2” format. Such meetings were noted to be a suitable platform for participants to introduce their position.
The diplomats also exchanged their views as to the current state of Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations.
The EU role in the region was also brought under discussion, in particular, its initiatives aimed at implementation of social and economic and humanitarian projects.
