On August 3, 2011, PMR's Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Yastrebchak met in Sukhum with candidate for president of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues of bilateral cooperation of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie, and also touched upon the forthcoming early presidential elections due in Abkhazia on August 26.
Touching upon the democratic character of electoral procedures, Vladimir Yastrebchak underlined that in this process “there is no power, no opposition, but there is nation which chooses power”. The head of the Pridnestrovien diplomacy also informed that observers from Pridnestrovie will monitor presidential elections in Abkhazia alongside with observers from other countries. The Minister assured that the Pridnestrovien observers will carry out their work impartially and in accordance with the norms of international law.
Raul Khadzhimba assured that he completely supports brotherly relations existing between Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia. He expressed his conviction that cooperation of the two countries will continue to actively develop.
