Leonid Manakov will head the Official Representation of the PMR in Moscow

The Official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Russian Federation will be headed by Leonid Manakov. He was appointed to this position by Decree of the President of the PMR.

The PMR Supreme Council Commission for Foreign Policy approved the candidacy of Leonid Manakov.

It should be reminded that the Pridnestrovian Representation in the Russian Federation is scheduled to open this month in the center of Moscow, on the New Arbat, at the well-known House of Books (Dom Knigi). It will work primarily for Pridnestrovian citizens, in particular, it will protect the interests of Pridnestrovians in Russia.

It should be noted that creation of the Pridnestrovian Representation abroad is prescribed by the Development Strategy of Pridnestrovie for the next 8 years.

Information from the Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency: Leonid Manakov was born on May 8, 1945 in Kiselevsk, Kemerovskaya Oblast. In 1962 he graduated from a municipal secondary school.

From 1962 to 1964 he worked in the mine. Between 1964 and 1967 he served in the Soviet Army (unit in Germany). In May 1968, he was accepted to serve in internal affairs agencies of Kiselevsk. For more than 9 years he served in various positions in the criminal investigation department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Regional Executive Committee in Kemerovo.

In 1974 he graduated from the Kuibyshev Tomsk State University, with a specialization in jurisprudence. In 1977, he was elected on a competitive basis as a senior lecturer in the Department of Criminal Law and the Kemerovo Committee process, and therefore interrupted his service in law enforcement bodies.

In 1981 he started working at the Kemerovo regional prosecutor’s office. In 1984 he was appointed prosecutor of the investigative department of the Pskov region prosecutor’s office. By decision of the regional executive committee in August 1986 he was sent to investigative work in the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Pskovskaya Oblast.

In 1989, he was appointed the Director of Investigations of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Pskovskaya Oblast.

In 1995, Leonid Manakov became an associate member of the International Academy of Acmeological Sciences. He has published a number of scientific articles on the problems of tactics, methods of crime solution and investigation.

In 1996, he was on an official trip as part of the Interim Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Chechen Republic, fulfilling his duties to maintain a state of emergency, combat illegal armed groups and restore constitutional order.
In May 1997, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Head of the Criminal Militia of the PMR’s MIA.

During his service in internal affairs bodies, he was awarded the “Excellent militiaman” badge, the medals “For perfect service” III, II, I degrees, the medal “Veteran of Labor”, the medal “Labor Glory” and other awards.

From 2000 to date he is a lawyer, vice-president of the Guild of Russian Lawyers. He was awarded the title of Honorary Lawyer of Russia.
