Statement by the PMR Foreign Ministry

04/03/25

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses concern over the Moldovan side’s repeated refusal to attend the meeting of political representatives at the OSCE Mission office in Bendery.
It is worth noting that on March 25, 2025, the PMR Foreign Ministry proposed holding a meeting of the chief negotiators to revitalize dialogue and develop solutions to the full range of pressing issues. We draw attention to the fact that the previous meeting of political representatives took place more than four months ago, after which the Moldovan side adopted a tactic of disrupting direct working interaction https://mid.gospmr.org/ru/node/9765 .
Despite the agreed date (April 3), time and agenda of the meeting, Oleg Serebrian refused to hold the meeting in the generally accepted format of direct communication, once again disrupting the event.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR views Oleg Serebrian’s approach and the public assessments from his office as a deliberate sabotage of the negotiation process and an attempt to discredit legitimate dialogue mechanisms. We note that the political representative from the Republic of Moldova once again demonstrates a lack of interest in substantive work aimed at addressing specific issues that affect the interests of the population and economic entities.
The Pridnestrovian side remains open to holding a meeting on the territory of Pridnestrovie in full accordance with the practice of the past two years, since the introduction of repressive amendments to the criminal law of the Republic of Moldova. We urge the mediators and observers in the ‘5+2’ format to use available resources to bring the Moldovan side back to the negotiation table in the normal format of direct personal dialogue.
