Vitaly Ignatiev held a working meeting with Kelly Keiderling. The diplomat spoke about the current situation in Pridnestrovie, as well as the negative impact of the “prolonged pause” in the negotiation process, during which “the Moldovan side is doing everything possible to undermine the dialogue mechanisms”.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the settlement process continues to face challenges and difficulties provoked by the Republic of Moldova. He expressed hope that this year the Finnish OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office will make the necessary efforts to restore the functionality of the negotiation process.
“We note with concern a number of factors – the continued economic pressure on Pridnestrovie, including humanitarian, technical, and trade-related restrictions across a wide range of areas. We draw attention to the fact that the Moldovan side is not fulfilling its previously assumed obligations and the agreements under which Chisinau has promised to adopt constructive solutions”, Vitaly Ignatiev stated.
The Head of the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned Chisinau’s plans to introduce new conditions for the gas supply mechanism to Pridnestrovie, as well as its refusal to resume the registration of vehicles in the VRO in full accordance with the Protocol Decision of April 24, 2018.
The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Kelly Keiderling, noted that she is closely monitoring the developments and continues consultations on the full range of issues with both the Moldovan side and the Finnish OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office.
Summing up the meeting, the interlocutors agreed to maintain regular working contacts while implementing a joint work plan for the medium term.
