The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that throughout the current week, under the mediation of the OSCE Mission, efforts were made to facilitate the meeting of political representatives of the sides to discuss measures for overcoming the energy crisis and providing humanitarian support.
Under various pretexts, the political representative of the Republic of Moldova first waived the traditional in-person meeting format, and then ultimately disrupted the session by rejecting the OSCE Mission’s written proposal to hold it at the Bendery office.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic informed all the 5+2 participants that it regards Chisinau’s actions as a refusal to take practical steps to resolve the fuel and energy crisis, including by means of humanitarian aid for the population, which undermines trust in the Moldovan side.
Chisinau’s inconsistency, combined with media speculation, has once again proven that the Moldovan side neither in the past nor today has had any intention of providing support to the citizens of Pridnestrovie. Chisinau’s strategy was ultimately exposed by its political representative, who stated that the currently freezing Pridnestrovie “must learn to manage without this so-called humanitarian gas”.
The Republic of Moldova’s refusal to engage in working communication and its aggressive public attacks are a blatantly irresponsible step on the part of Chisinau seeking to undermine the negotiation framework.
The Pridnestrovian side remains open to holding a meeting of political representatives on the territory of Pridnestrovie and calls on the international mediators and observers to facilitate the Republic of Moldova’s return to the negotiating table.
