Due to the state of emergency in the economy, Pridnestrovie is engaged in ongoing dialogue with the parties involved and is making every possible effort to maintain natural gas supplies at previous volumes.
Meanwhile, facing such a serious challenge, Moldovan officials are issuing contradictory statements, actively exploiting the issue for speculation. However, according to available information, Chisinau has so far failed to take any appropriate practical steps to reach agreements with the Russian Federation and Ukraine that would enable gas supplies and thereby ensure the energy security of both Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
In this regard, we propose that the Moldovan side promptly send a joint appeal from Pridnestrovie and Moldova to Russia and Ukraine, requesting them to make necessary decisions, based on humanitarian considerations and care for people, to ensure the transit of natural gas to the PMR, part of which is needed to supply electricity to Moldova.
We proceed from the understanding that preventing a humanitarian crisis and negative consequences for the population during the winter season is a mutual priority for all involved parties. This aligns with the interests of the two mediator and guarantor countries in the international Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement process and will represent an important practical contribution to maintaining stability in the common regional space.
