On November 26, 2024, Expert (Working) Groups on Environmental Issues from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova held a video conference.
Pridnestrovie initiated discussion of issues related to the implementation of the Protocol on Cooperation between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova in Fishery Management and Rational Use of Dniester Aquatic Biological Resources dated June 15, 2016.
The participants to the discussion payed attention to synchronize the timing of fishing bans during the spawning season, to exchange information on monitoring aquatic biological resources and ichthyological observations, as well as to establish systematic cooperation between the relevant agencies of both sides in fishery oversight and combating poaching on the Dniester River.
The Pridnestrovian representatives shared information about ongoing efforts to stock the Dniester River with commercial fish species, including specific cost figures for these activities, and called on the Moldovan side to arrange similar activities regularly.
Moreover, the Pridnestrovian side highlighted the necessity to implement environmental flows on the Dniester River, which are acceptable in terms of the ichthyofauna.
The meeting also addressed other issues, particularly matters related to the disposal of hazardous chemical waste and the exchange of information on various parameters.
