On 24 January 2024, a session of Expert (Working) Groups on Health Issues was held in the videoconference format. The Pridnestrovian side initiated it to discuss significant issues of public health protection. In particular, the parties touched upon the importing medicines for healthcare and prevention institutions and pharmaceutical chains in Pridnestrovie, as well as importing X-ray equipment necessary for prompt diagnosis of diseases, including tuberculosis.
Due to another reduction of the nomenclature of medical drugs imported to Pridnestrovie by Moldova, the Pridnestrovian side outlined a high risk for the population and health care system of Pridnestrovie. During an in-depth discussion of this issue, the parties agreed to conduct an additional analysis of the needs of medical institutions and pharmaceutical chains in Pridnestrovie in order to identify measures to prevent a shortage of medicines.
As an effective solution to the issue of importing X-ray equipment, the Pridnestrovian side proposed a mechanism tested in the summer of 2023, when components for a CT scanner were delivered to the Republican Hospital for WWII Disabled Veterans.
Despite the arguments of Pridnestrovian representatives about the threats due to the untimely diagnostics of tuberculosis, as well as the WHO statements about the priority of the Tuberculosis Prevention Public Target Program, the Moldovan side revealed no willingness to compromise, adhering, as before, to political demands to Pridnestrovian medical institutions.
