The President Office hosted a meeting of Vadim Krasnoselsky with the European delegation, headed by Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga, Head of EEAS EURCA.5. Head of the EU delegation to Moldova, Mr. Janis Mazeiks, was also among the visitors. Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Obolonik and Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev represented the Pridnestrovian side, besides the President.
The PMR President mentioned lack of serious developments since the previous meeting, as well as no positive dynamics in the negotiation process with Moldova. “We will talk about the peace that exists, about the negotiation process, which is currently lacking, and about the issues related to it,” Vadim Krasnoselsky outlined the agenda of that discussion. He emphasized the importance of discussing social and economic issues: “Whatever political turbulence occurs, people live, enterprises shall operate and pay taxes, employees shall receive their salaries, aged people shall receive their pensions. External circumstances, of course, have a negative impact on the Pridnestrovian economy. It’s obvious. But we have enough power to minimize the negative consequences. And this is already the way of development, progress, positive attitude”.
Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga, in turn, said that she was happy to see stability but did not welcome stagnation. She reminded that her organization’s activity is based on building and maintaining dialogue. The diplomat expressed her desire to discuss ways of cooperation, particularly economic cooperation, in the current realities. “Our main interest is people, and our main priorities are economy and stability,” Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga emphasized.
The interlocutors expressed their hope for a productive and practical conversation. In order to ensure its substantive content, officials in charge of political and economic issues were invited to the meeting.
