Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Janis Mazeiks, head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, in the Presidential Administration. The visiting group included Peter Janik, political affairs officer, and Vasile Plamadeala, trade counsellor. The Pridnestrovian side was represented by the Prime Minister of the PMR, Alexander Rosenberg, and the PMR Foreign Minister, Vitaly Ignatiev.
Topics discussed: the need to continue the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, measures taken to revive the still viable and relevant 5+2 format, and the practical content of the specialized expert (working) groups’ activity. Speaking about the dialogue at the level of negotiators, Vadim Krasnoselsky said that it is necessary to avoid the practice of holding meeting for meeting’s sake. According to the President, communication between political representatives should be functional. Among the more specific aspects discussed by the interlocutors were the situation with Moldova’s ban on the import of components for a CT scanner, problems related to the issuance of neutral license plates, and other issues that have remained topical for years. The head of state drew attention to the fact that the Pridnestrovian side fulfilled all the commitments within the framework of the agreements reached during the negotiations, while Moldova is evading fulfilment.
As a positive moment, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the desire of both republics for peace, defining its preservation in the entire regional space in today’s challenging geopolitical environment as the high-priority task. In this regard, Janis Mazeiks stressed that the European Union, which was prompted by the Second World War, has been oriented towards ensuring peace and security throughout its history.
The tragic event that had taken place the previous day was discussed by the interlocutors during the meeting. The European diplomat asked what was known about Oleg Khorzhan’s murder on 17 July. Vadim Krasnoselsky informed that a criminal case under the article “murder” had been opened on the offence. The investigation is conducted by the Investigative Committee of the PMR, the operative actions are carried out by the PMR Interior Ministry. “The investigation is under my control. All versions are worked through. The information has been collected, due to which we can already judge about the reasons of this crime. We will solve it, reveal the criminals who committed it. If necessary, we will ask the Moldovan Interior Ministry for legal or operational assistance,” the PMR President said.
