Vitaly Ignatiev Receives the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation

The Foreign Ministry hosted the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev and Doris El Doueihy, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation to the Republic of Moldova. The meeting was also attended by the ICRC representatives Deepali Gaur and Azat Doskozhaev.

Greeting the guests, Vitaly Ignatiev stressed that international cooperation in the social and humanitarian sphere is of great importance for Pridnestrovie, and in this context, he positively assessed the dynamics of bilateral cooperation.

In her turn, Doris El Doueihy thanked the Pridnestrovian side for systematic assistance to the organization’s activities on the territory of the republic and informed about the current projects of the International Committee of the Red Cross implemented in Pridnestrovie, as well as about further plans. In particular, the discussion was focused on the possibility of conducting trainings for Pridnestrovian international humanitarian law specialists and medical workers. The Minister emphasized the demand for practical support of Pridnestrovie by the ICRC.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also exchanged views on the current regional situation and Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations. The Minister pointed out a number of destructive steps taken by Moldova that significantly worsen the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in Pridnestrovie. In particular, problems with the import of medicines and medical equipment to the PMR were discussed, including the blatant fact that Moldova detained components for a computer tomograph.
