PMR President Receives British Ambassador

05/12/23

The office of the PMR President hosted the meeting between Pridnestrovian head of state Vadim Krasnoselsky and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova Steven Fisher.

Greeting the guest, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that since the previous meeting serious events happened in Pridnestrovie and along its perimeter, which have impacted the domestic situation and the state of the negotiation process. The work of the Permanent Conference in the 5+2 format is frozen, the negotiations are stagnant, the meetings between the parties’ representatives are rather formal, and the tense foreign policy situation is not optimistic, stated Vadim Krasnoselsky. He stressed that, in spite of everything, Pridnestrovie strives to continue the dialogue and to preserve peace in the republic and across the region.

The head of state paid special attention to the topic of prevented terrorist attacks, emphasizing that if criminal plans had been implemented, they would have become a powerful factor for conflict escalation. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that it is important for Pridnestrovie that the world community give a fair assessment of what had happened. It is necessary primarily to prevent new attempts of terrorist attacks and unleashing the conflict.

The British Ambassador, in turn, claimed that the state he represents is closely observing the events. Steven Fisher signaled an interest in looking at the evidence of the preparation of the prevented terrorist attacks. He also spoke about his recent meetings with representatives of the OSCE member states in Vienna.

Steven Fisher informed about the planned meetings with Pridnestrovian business representatives designed to strengthen and develop trade relations and increase exports.
