Vitaly Ignatiev Met with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova

02/13/23

Vitaly Ignatiev held a working meeting with Kelly Keiderling. The sides discussed details of the forthcoming visit to Pridnestrovie by OSCE Chairman-in-Office, North Macedonian Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani.

Kelly Keiderling informed about the objectives of her office’s activity in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement process in 2023. In response, Vitaly Ignatiev spoke at length about Pridnestrovie’s view on the reasons for the worsening degradation of the situation in the negotiation process. At the same time, the diplomat stressed the contribution made by the Pridnestrovian side to maintaining the negotiating mechanisms, in particular, the full implementation of the agreements from the Berlin+ package by Pridnestrovie and the unwavering commitment of the Pridnestrovian leadership towards peace and stability.

In this respect, he called on the OSCE to pay particular attention to Chisinau’s destructive measures. They include blocking the import of medicines and the movement of Pridnestrovian vehicles, banking restrictions, as well as withdrawal from the telecommunications agreement.

The meeting mainly focused on the Moldovan “law on separatism”, a law that poses a direct threat to the negotiation process. There was a thorough and detailed exchange of views and assessments on this topic. Further discussions on this issue will continue next week during the visit of a high-level delegation of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office to Pridnestrovie.
