Vitaly Ignatiev and Abkhazian Foreign Minister Inal Ardzinba met online in a working dialogue.

During the communication the diplomats exchanged greetings on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the first Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Abkhazia.

“It is difficult to overestimate the importance of this document that became the basis for bilateral interstate relations. In fact, it was the first step on the world stage of our independent states in the new post-Soviet context,” said Vitaly Ignatiev.

The Minister stated that the potential laid down in the Treaty is being successfully implemented, and in the following years about thirty agreements have been signed: interdepartmental, sectoral, and at the level of heads of state. In this context he separately drew attention to the Memorandum of Cooperation in Healthcare, Social Development and Social Protection, signed on December 2 last year.

Emphasizing that the priority development of relations with the brotherly states is an imperative of the PMR’s foreign policy, Vitaly Ignatiev expressed hope for further strengthening of multi-aspect relations between Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia.

In the course of the discussion the diplomats also addressed the prospects for the development of bilateral contacts this year, including through inter-ministerial cooperation.
