The PMR President’s Office hosted a meeting between Vadim Krasnoselsky, Head of the Pridnestrovian State, and Margret Uebber, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova. The Pridnestrovian side was also represented by PMR Prime Minister Alexander Rozenberg and PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.
Margret Uebber headed the German Embassy in Moldova this year. It is her first time in Tiraspol. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed his hope for fruitful cooperation. The PMR President noted the activity and effectiveness of German participation in the negotiation process and the work of the Permanent Conference format, recalling the Berlin+ Package adopted during the German OSCE presidency (2016). The head of the Pridnestrovian State stressed that the later Vienna and Rome protocols have not lost their relevance to this day. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the agreements are not implemented by the Moldovan side and the negotiation process as a whole is in a state of protracted stagnation. The PMR President stressed that Pridnestrovie remains a supporter of the dialogue. The basis for its development is the preservation of peace and security. According to Margret Uebber, Germany, which advocates prosperity and stability in the region, adheres to the same principles.
In addition to the negotiation process and the work of the 5+2 format, the participants discussed the Pridnestrovian economy and the prospects of bilateral cooperation in this direction. Another topic of discussion was dual education system in Pridnestrovie. The German guest finds this field interesting and intends to visit one of the practice-oriented educational institutions in Pridnestrovie. There are developments on German participation in the project. Margret Uebber said she welcomed the attention of the Pridnestrovian officials to this topic. She also spoke about teaching the German language at Pridnestrovian educational institutions. Many schoolchildren and students choose German as their compulsory foreign language. The diplomat was interested in the assistance that the FRG Embassy could provide in this direction.
The interlocutors discussed issues of mutual interest in detail and mapped out plans for further cooperation.
