PMR President Received Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova

11/18/22

The Pridnestrovian President met with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova. Vadim Krasnoselsky and Kelly Keiderling discussed relations between Tiraspol and Chisinau. Negotiations are currently frozen for various reasons. The sides now need a platform for communication, the President believes.

“I still come to the conclusion that it is possible to resume the meetings of the 5+2 Permanent Conference, if one is willing to do so. In any case, if official meetings cannot be held, we can hold informal meetings and consultations,” Vadim Krasnoselsky said.

According to the President, the problem that has arisen in the energy sector between Pridnestrovie and Moldova “discourages to move forward”.  “I would very much like the OSCE Mission to be involved in energy issues as well and to contribute with its influence to solve certain issues,” the Head of State noted.

Any controversial issue should be resolved through compromise. And many things here depend on Chisinau’s representatives. “Moldovan vis-a-vis, Moldovan officials with whom I have communicated and others with whom I have not communicated, to say the least, are not quite correct. It’s very simple, if you have reached an agreement, you must keep your word. If you have signed it, you must implement it, and not look for excuses not to implement some agreements that have already been signed before,” the PMR president said.

Vadim Krasnoselsky believes that the situation in the energy sector has strained the atmosphere. The Head of State drew special attention of the OSCE representatives to the illegality of Moldova’s actions to withhold part of the natural gas intended for Pridnestrovie.
