On the Meeting with the ICRC Delegation

The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and the head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Republic of Moldova, Doris El Doueihy. The meeting was also attended by ICRC representatives Karina Lehmann and Azat Doskozhaev.

Touching upon the Red Cross’ current activities in Pridnestrovie, the Foreign Minister pointed out the intensification of the organization’s work and the relevance of the social support provided to Pridnestrovian citizens and refugees.  The Red Cross representatives were informed that the citizens who arrived from Ukraine are fully provided with the necessary range of services for their comfortable residence in the PMR.

The ICRC delegation presented information about the refugees’ needs assessment and the current program of targeted assistance for such citizens, as well as for the Pridnestrovian host families. At the same time, the guests announced their intention to expand the program of ICRC activities in Pridnestrovie focusing on improving the quality of medical services.  

During the meeting the Foreign Minister emphasized the problem of Moldova blocking the import of medicines resulting in a crisis on the pharmaceutical market and a deficit of medicines available to the republic’s population.

Closing the meeting, the sides agreed to continue substantive dialogue on humanitarian issues and outlined plans for their future cooperation.
