President of Pridnestrovie Hosting European Delegation Headed by Thomas Mayr-Harting

10/25/22

A European delegation headed by the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Thomas Mayr-Harting, visited Pridnestrovie. The diplomats were received by Vadim Krasnoselsky at the Office of the PMR President. Welcoming the guests, the Pridnestrovian Head of State noted that almost five months had passed since the previous conversation. The events of this period encourage no optimism. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the negotiation process has been stagnating so far; moreover, there are areas where the dialogue is scaling down rather than developing, having degraded to the level of 2018. The President of Pridnestrovie stressed expectations of an in-depth productive conversation that would contribute to solving the accumulated problems. We are talking about humanitarian issues. Vadim Krasnoselsky urged to avoid outdated stereotypes, and to move forward.

Thomas Mayr-Harting also spoke about the value of dialogue, both directly between the parties, and between all participants to the 5 + 2 format. The Ambassador noted the steps taken by the Pridnestrovian side to address urgent issues of the negotiation agenda, and mentioned the importance of holding the top-level dialogue in the 1+1 format.

Among today’s visitors is the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Kelly Keiderling. She got this appointment early this month. Introducing his colleague, Thomas Mayr-Harting expressed confidence regarding fruitful cooperation with Kelly Keiderling.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues. They noted maintaining peace, ensuring security and respecting for the human rights as the priority in any circumstances.
